MY PLAYLIST – JADE BURNS
Jade Burns has become a trusted voice for new music across Liverpool and beyond, championing fresh sounds on BBC Radio Merseyside Introducing and BBC Radio 1.
Known for spotlighting rising talent and genre-blending tracks, Jade’s playlist reflects her love for soulful vocals, thoughtful storytelling, and sounds that push boundaries. From local favourites to new global discoveries, these are the tracks she’s had on repeat.
1. Two Blinks I Love you, Tonia – Coldest Winter Ever
I’ve followed Two Blinks journey since his early days with other stage names, and I’m a big fan of Tonia, so to see them both come together is amazing. I was drawn to how it sounded sonically, and love the overall vibe of the track. Plus I love songs about seasons and this is perfect as it’s still freezing in February!
2. Olivia Dean – Touching Toes
A new release from one of my favourite artists at the moment. I love how she doesn’t always stick to traditional song structures and some of her tracks seem more like poems or short stories. This track is the perfect length, leaving it up to the listener what happens between the couple, and always wanting more.
3. Nectar Woode – Good Vibrations
A brand new name for me in 2025, discovered through the power of radio. Gorgeous voice, beautiful sentiment and overall some lovely optimism in a world of negativity.
4. Maribou State, Holly Walker – Otherside
I would describe this as a very “me” song, a delicious vocal on a warm and basey beat. I love a band who crosses over between genres, like electronica, indie and soul. Their new album Hallucinating Love does just that.
5. Superlate – Whatugonnado?
Which leads me nicely onto Superlate, a genre blending musical genius. Combining summery soulful beats, a groovy baseline and an ethereal voice, transporting anyone to a beach club or a festival.
6. Casino – Back in the Day
As you can probably tell by my previous picks I’m a sucker for a good voice. Casino coming out of Liverpool are really gathering attention with their lead singers unique voice and indie soul vibes. It’s soulful, it’s Scouse, and it’s boss.
7. Ocean Alley – Confidence
A track I kept hearing snippets of on social media, it was grabbing my attention but then I’d scroll past until one I decided to listen in full. It’s such a good song from a great band, who I discovered on TikTok. We often hear about how bad social media is, but sometimes it can introduce you to new gems like this one.
8. Keyside – Angeline
It’s a blessing and a curse being from such a musical city that’s predominantly made up of bands. It’s hard for them to cut through and stand out, but Keyside have done just that. They’ve managed to create a refreshingly modern and classy take on Brit Pop and simultaneously sound classic and fresh.
9. Luvcat – Matador
What a year this band have had, exploding onto the scene and proudly claiming their spot. I love it! I always love a local reference in a song too. An exciting band who are definitely one to watch.
10. Paige Tomlinson – Butts Bumpin
Picking up the tempo for the final track with Paige Tomlinson. It’s been amazing watching her career go from strength to strength over the past few years, from seeing her open up in the Invisible Wind Factory to smashing it at a packed out crowd at Glastonbury. Always perfectly blending the old and new and has the crowd in the palm of her hand.
