Liverpool Celebrates Festival brings bumper headline show to Pier Head this August Bank Holiday
The legendary Jacksons make a return to the city for the first time in over 50 years as part of Liverpool’s new bank holiday festival at the Pier Head.
Holly Johnson, lead singer of Frankie Goes to Hollywood, will perform iconic hits including Relax, Two Tribes and The Power of Love on a huge opening night.
Johnson will be joined by the Lightning Seeds, Space, China Crisis, Tea Street band, The Sway and some of the city’s hottest new talent for a night of music from Liverpool Legends.
The Jacksons, who now comprise brothers Jackie, Tito and Marlon Jackson, will headline
Saturday’s Party at the Pier, joined by a spectacular 10 piece live band, on a colossal day of music.
The Jacksons will perform legendary tracks such as Blame It on The Boogie, I Want You Back, ABC, Can You Feel It and more. Boyzlife – the Brian McFadden and Keith Duffy supergroup – rock the Pier with acclaimed Boyzone and Westlife number ones.
Jonny Bongo, of the popular Bongo’s Bingo, will also bring his Festival Experience to the Pier alongside dance group N-Trance and an array of emerging artists.
On Sunday, honouring the legacy of Mathew Street Festival, the Cavern Club Beatles will headline alongside tribute acts for Abba, Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen and The Doors.
The Cavern Takeover on Bank Holiday Monday is headlined by the world’s greatest Queen tribute Dios Salve A La Reina – God Save the Queen. They will be joined on stage by international tribute artists consisting of Adele, Rolling Stones, Oasis, Elton John, The Beatles and more.
Monday 26th is also Family Day with a whole host of secondary entertainment and fun for the kids for just £5 per child ticket. Adult group offers across all days are 4 for 3.
The festival is working alongside charity partners Ronald McDonald House and Fans Supporting Foodbanks to help raise funds for the new refurbishment of RMH at Alder Hey Hospital and to help encourage the people of Merseyside to keep donating food to one of the food hubs within the city or on site at the festival.
Steve Fletcher of Liverpool Celebrates said..
“We are proud of the line-up we managed to secure for the first year of Liverpool Celebrates Festival which not only pays tribute to the famous Cavern and The Mathew Street Festival but also welcomes iconic groups such as The Jacksons and Holly Johnson back to Liverpool”
“The Jacksons are returning to the city for the first time in almost 50 years while Dios Salve A La Reina were show-stoppers at the last Mathew Street Festival in 2013”
“We wanted to create a festival that could compete with other major festivals in the country by bringing International artists into the city, but also to make sure there is opportunity for local talent and local businesses to get involved. It is great that we can also support local charities in the process”
“Liverpool Celebrates is also one of the cheapest festivals in the country with tickets starting at £25 so for the talent on offer its incredibly competitive”
“We are hoping the first year is a great success and we can continue to support the local economy and put on a great show at the same time”
