A Liverpool music publisher that has helped more than 400,000 artists and songwriters collect their royalties has been acquired by believe, one of the world’s leading digital media companies.
Since being established in 2006 Sentric Music has helped more than 400,000 artists and songwriters collect their royalties and has recently announced a deal with Believe, one of the world’s leading digital music companies.
Sentric Music was set up by then LIPA student Chris Meehan and two fellow students while still studying at the University. As Chris explains it publishing was an area of the music industry that was largely still shrouded in mystery and often wasn’t understood by musicians themselves. Sentric was set up as a new age independent music publisher which disrupted the traditional music publishing business model. It set out to offer the fairest deals in the industry and to put power back in the hands of artists and songwriters.
Sentric has grown steadily from these early days bringing in significant investment along the way to enable the expansion into it becoming a major player in music publishing globally. Based in the Baltic Triangle Sentric has grown to a position where it is one of the most significant music sector employers in the city region. In addition it also has a London office and a presence in other locations in Europe and in the US.
As well as providing their unique tech powered publishing services Sentric are also active in looking to get artists further royalties and exposure through arranging sync deals which can see a song placed on a TV show, film or advert.
Sentric’s single online platform offers artists and songwriters a simple way to collect their royalties from more than 200 territories across the world. Investment has allowed Sentric to make several strategic acquisitions and establish itself in more music markets than any of its competitors.
Music publishing is a massive business and in 2021 revenues from music publishing as a whole represented the third largest source of revenues in the music industry after recording and live with a total of over $8m. This is why the acquisition of Sentric made perfect sense for Believe who are looking to roll out a global and comprehensive publishing business.
Chris Meehan explained why the deal is a good one for Sentric and will allow the business to remain and expand in Liverpool creating even more jobs.
