AMBER JAY RETURNS IN STUNNING STYLE WITH NEW SINGLE ‘NPC’
Over the last few years, Amber Jay has established herself as one of Liverpool’s most intriguing and distinctive artists. There has been a gap since her last recorded release, but the wait has been more than worthwhile.
New single ‘NPC’ is a mini masterpiece—a dark, intensely cinematic track that draws you in from the opening moments and refuses to let go.
Anyone who has followed Amber Jay’s career won’t be surprised by the quality of this latest release. She’s consistently demonstrated a rare ability to combine haunting electronic soundscapes with intelligent, emotionally charged songwriting.
I’ve been aware of Amber’s work since she was selected for Culture Liverpool’s excellent LIMF Academy programme. Even then, her gently subversive electro-pop immediately caught my attention.
That unique talent was showcased brilliantly on her debut EP, Never Too Far From A Dark Thought, which deservedly attracted widespread praise and established her as one of the city’s most exciting emerging artists.
Her live performances have evolved just as impressively. With commanding stage presence and an instinct for unforgettable hooks, she’s developed into a captivating performer. Her concert with the Philharmonic Youth Orchestra at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall remains one of the standout shows I’ve seen. I also remember catching her not long afterwards in the far more intimate surroundings of the Kazimier Stockroom. Despite the contrast in venues, she absolutely smashed it there too, proving that her songs have the power to captivate audiences in any setting.
I can’t wait to see where Amber Jay goes next. For now, though, immerse yourself in the dark, brooding beauty of ‘NPC’.
