LIVERPOOL PHILHARMONIC MUSIC ROOM 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
This autumn marks a very special milestone for Liverpool Philharmonic as they celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Music Room – their much-loved space where local and emerging artists can share their work, and where audiences discover new music in an intimate setting.
Over the past decade, the Music Room has brought us incredible shows spanning the whole spectrum of musical genres, plus intimate chamber concerts, musical adventures for younger audiences and inspiring community music workshops too. They have welcomed a vast array of artists, nurtured new talent, and collaborated with partners to present a programme that’s exciting, diverse and truly unique – just like our city.
The Phil is marking this special occasion with a huge celebration of all the Music Room does. Their Open Day will kick off a fortnight of specially crafted performances, featuring plenty of old friends, beloved local organisations and a whole range of talent from across the city, the UK and the world. There’ll be folk and blues, world music and rock, and of course, some of the Orchestra’s musicians will take to the stage in very special performances too.
I’m particularly looking forward One Night on Sugnall (Thursday 9th Oct) a special concert that reflects the spirit of the Music Room – creative, bold, and rooted in Liverpool’s musical talent including Ellis Murphy , Astles (Daniel Astles), MT Jones and Motel Sundown – who have all risen up through the Music Room and headlined their own shows there. This concert embodies everything the Music Room stands for – nurturing local talent, giving them a platform, and bringing the community together around bold, new music.
But there’s plenty more besides ( including the brilliant named Baked A La Ska on the following night ) but whatever music you are into you will find something you love in the Music Room programme.
Here’s to another successful 10 Years.
